ChessCube was founded in 2006 by Mark Levitt. We offer live chess play and chat, chess training videos and lectures, and ChessCube Cinema. We’re passionate about chess, and about creating the best online chess you can find.


ChessCube has over 4,7 million registered users from over 180 countries. ChessCube’s community is managed by moderators who are ChessCube players themselves.

Mark Levitt, CEO & Founder: Four-time SA Open chess champion, with many years history in Chess commerce, including: publishing, software and retail business. Levitt was also an early investor & CIO of search engine marketing company www.incubeta.com, and a founding member of TEIM Ventures.

Sean Wyngaard, Community & Operations Manager: Sean joined ChessCube in May 2009, overseeing all the aspects of the community such as the ChessCube Support team, online Moderators, ChessCube Forums, Social Media and Marketing related tasks.


ChessCube has secured $1.8m to date in venture capital. Investors include InVenFin, a subsidiary of Venfin Limited, Michael Leeman and Vinny Lingham.


ChessCube was a semifinalist in the Adobe MAX 2008 Awards.
ChessCube won the 2008 WP Sports Award: Media Award – Electronic.
